Who we are
InvestLincoln is a private, project-based collective of senior professionals, directors, business owners and entrepreneurs backing the growth of the city. InvestLincoln and LoveLincoln are operated by the same team, and we are the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us about anything here at hello@investlincoln.co.uk. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (registration no. [to be added on registration]).
What we collect
- Registering your interest: your email address.
- Your membership application and profile: your name and email, the entry criteria you meet and the details that support them (your role and organisation, for example), and anything you choose to publish to the Collective List, such as your job title, business, photo, bio and LinkedIn link. If you sign in with LinkedIn or Google, we receive the basic profile it shares.
- Membership payments: card payments are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card number. We keep a record of the payment and the membership year it covers.
- Project-01 Backers: if a Founding Partnership in LoveLincoln is bought with you named as the member, LoveLincoln passes us the business name and your name and email so that your complimentary year can be claimed. The purchase itself, and its billing, are covered by LoveLincoln’s Privacy Policy.
- Events: your registrations and tickets, so we know who is coming.
- The InvestLincoln Monthly Debrief: your email address.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To run your membership and provide what you have asked for — projects, events and the member directory — performance of a contract.
- To send the InvestLincoln Monthly Debrief — performance of a contract. The Debrief is part of what joining The Collective gives you, so we send it to every member; you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email, and we will stop.
- To keep the site secure and improve it — our legitimate interests.
- To take payment and meet our legal and accounting duties — contract and legal obligation.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We rely on a small number of trusted suppliers to run the site: Clerk — sign-in and accounts (based in the US, under standard data-protection contract terms); Stripe — payments; Resend — our emails; Railway — hosting and database (in the EU); Cloudflare — content delivery and file storage; Google Analytics — site statistics, processed on our behalf with Google’s advertising and data-sharing features switched off. Your Collective List profile is only shown where you have chosen to publish it.
How long we keep it
Membership information for as long as you are part of The Collective, and a short period afterwards if you leave. Newsletter details until you unsubscribe. We keep limited records longer where the law requires, such as payment records.
Cookies and similar storage
We keep these to a minimum: essential cookies for sign-in and security (Clerk), needed for the site to work, and a small number of functional flags set only when you act. We do not run advertising cookies on this site.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is being used. It sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) that give your browser a random ID so we can count visits and see which pages are read. We use this purely as statistics to improve the site — never for advertising, and Google’s advertising features are switched off, so it cannot follow you to other websites. UK law allows statistics-only cookies like these without a consent pop-up; you can switch them off below at any time.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to provide it in a portable form, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@investlincoln.co.uk. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
